CALL FOR: Artists and Creative Community
Have a sewing needle kicking around? Have a sewing machine that could be dusted off? Contribute to helping frontline workers by creating a fabric face mask! Create a do it yourself fabric face mask to protect yourself and your family when it is essential to leave your home (grocery shopping, entering public spaces). You can use the link below to walk you through a basic do it yourself fabric face mask! Feel free to explore the internet on the different styles of face masks and techniques that are used to create them:
** Feel free to replace elastic with the substitution of fabric strips for the ear ties. You may also consider ties that wrap around to the back of the head to prevent sore ears for front line workers who will wear a mask for hours at a time or for your quick use!
If you have extra materials to create masks and wish to donate masks to our front line workers, please email Danielle Coleman at daniellemargaretcoleman@gmail.com who will sanitize the masks and donate them to the CKHA frontline workers who are in need of masks. There will be a scheduled pick up day by Danielle to collect the masks from mail box pickups which will be arranged later this month.
Notes for your use of a homemade mask:
· THIS IS NOT A SUBSTUTION FOR HANDWASHING AND HAND SANITIZING
· Please wash and sanitize your mask before you handle your mask and place it onto your face
· Adjust your mask and ties before leaving your home
· AVOID TOUCHING YOUR MASK WHILE OUT IN PUBLIC FOR POTENTIAL CONTAMINATION
· Mask must be washed and sanitized after each wear: machine wash and dry or wash in your sink with boiled water and allow for the mask to fully dry before wearing again
