The Wallaceburg and District Council for the Arts is VERY happy to announce "Dala" will be coming to Wallaceburg on January 19, 2019 at the Jeanne Gordon Theatre.

The two musicians of Dala (Amanda Walther and Sheila Carabine), have released five albums together. They are known as "Darlings of the Canadian music scene". Their angelic voices and unique harmony have been described as: "Amanda’s ethereal soprano voice blends seamlessly with Sheila’s velvety alto, creating lush harmonies that have become their trademark".

They are coming to Wallaceburg after finishing an extensive 2018 North American tour which includes spending December on tour with "John McDermott Family Christmas". Dala writes songs that are both catchy and insightful. Their music draws upon many influences: The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and Bob Dylan.

They are winners of the "2010 Canadian Folk Music Award" for "Vocal Group of the Year" featuring their song "Best Day". They are also winners of "2010 Toronto Independent Music Awards" for "Best Folk Act" and their album: "Girls from the North Country" was Juno nominated in 2011 for "Roots & Traditional Album of the Year - Group". Dala is poised to bring their fresh brand of acoustic pop music to both the Wallaceburg and the World.

Turbo Street Funk

The Wallaceburg and District Council for the Arts is excited to share the news that Turbo Street Funk will be in the Jeanne Gordon Theatre on February 16, 2019.

Turbo Street Fund defies convention; whether they are playing a festival, pub, concert hall, or even on a busy street corner, the infectious sounds of Turbo Street Funk always sound at home. With a performance style rooted in the New Orleans horn band tradition, Turbo Street Funk combine Top 40 hits with top notch originals in an incendiary shows that gets people moving.

Formed in 2011, Turbo Street Funk started as a professional busking band, performing on the streets of Toronto four days a week each spring and summer while members of the band attended university. The band received high praise from local journalists for their fresh sound and popularity with Toronto audiences.

Caplan weaves a captivating concept album that reflects on modern issues through his darkly funny and urgently heartfelt songs. With his enormous beard, unruly mane, intimately booming voice and beguiling charm, Caplan brings a striking presence to the stage.

Being held at the Trinity United Church

Have you always wanted to play a musical instrument? Now is your opportunity. No musical experience needed.
There are some ukuleles available on loan for the program.

The courses have started at the Trinity United Church, on Wellington St in Wallaceburg.
